PowerPro in the Classroom!
Candura Instruments of Oakville Ontario, is pleased to announce our support of Hydro One’s Meter Technician Training Partnership with four (4) Ontario Community Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology, through a donation of Power Quality monitoring equipment, valued at $50,000. Each College will receive a complete Power Quality and Energy Analysis System, which includes the rugged PowerPro monitor hardware with voltage leads and current clamps, and PowerView data analysis software
The four colleges, Algonquin College (Ottawa), Georgian College (Barrie), Mohawk College (Hamilton) and Northern College (Timmins) will be adding a meter technician option to the final year of their three year electrical technologist programs. These courses are scheduled to start in the fall of 2008.
This donated instrumentation will enable students to quickly monitor and analyze single and three phase electric power systems and various residential, commercial and industrial electrical loads. PowerView data analysis software will facilitate the study of key electrical parameter trends and characteristics (V, I, pf, kW, kVA, KVAR, kWHr, Energy Demand, Energy Costing, Waveforms, Phasor diagrams, etc.), as well as Power Quality characteristics, including harmonics, current and voltage THD, current and voltage transients, etc.. The use of these tools in the learning process will provide a solid practical foundation that will assist Graduates in responding to and resolving complaints by Utility Customers.
